This bread pudding recipe caught my eye Magnolia Table because it contains many things I greatly enjoy separately all in one dish: citrus, chocolate, French bread. It was not very challenging but was a little time consuming, especially as I was pregnant at the time and had to use the orange syrup variation. I used an online recipe for the orange syrup as I was unable to locate any in local stores.
The recipe begins with the ripping or cutting of an entire French loaf until you have ten cups of bread, and spread this in the pan. Then you mix everything except the chocolate and then pour the mixture over the bread, letting it sit for a half hour. This is the time consuming part. While that is soaking, you make the candied pecans.
Once the bread concoction has sat long enough you add the chocolate and sprinkle sugar on top and bake for less than twenty minutes. To serve, top with whipped creams and candied pecans.
This was very delicious and best served warm. The orange was not overpowering and the chocolate pieces were delightful. If is very filling and dense. We rate this a five out of five magnolia tables!
